Also, increasing the diversity of the workforce can have a mirror effect on the diversity of an organisation’s customer base by raising employee awareness and understanding of the diversity of customer needs and preferences and ways of responding to them to gain market value. (CIPD, Managing Diversity).
Gooch and Cornelius (1998) have considered 8 steps in the recruitment and selection process. These are:
- Identify the need to recruit
- Analyse the requirement
- Define the selection criteria
- Determine the reward
- Advertise the vacancy
- Select the ‘right’ person
- Induct the new starter
- Measure, review and evaluate.
