Evaluation techniques
Evaluation techniques
Profile reviews the evaluation techniques you have used to assess performance and identify potential improvements. This includes looking at how you have made use of external assessments and benchmarking. For example reviewing feedback from any previous Investors in People assessments, as well as techniques you use within the organisation – i.e. ‘self-review’. There are a range of approaches you could take to external and self-review, including:
Staff surveys
A structured paper or online questionnaire is sent to employees across the organisation. Employees rate various aspects of the workplace culture, how they are line managed; their satisfaction and commitment. Responses are usually processed by an independent, external organisation to protect anonymity. Staff surveys can provide rich, robust data about staff perceptions, and be used to measure changes in perceptions over time. To understand why certain perceptions are held, many organisations follow up a survey with other techniques such as discussion groups, to explore any issues which emerge in more depth.
To help overcome the sometimes significant cost of administering a large staff survey, Investors in People has developed an employee survey tool which is free when administered online – ask your Quality Centre for more details.
